Some friendships are written in the stars; others begin with a TIP challenge.
I first met Ashlyn at the 2023 Mustang TIP Challenge, when a beautiful mare named Peaches stepped out of holding and straight into Ashlyn’s heart. Two years later, their bond is stronger than Arizona sunlight—so when spring painted the Arizona desert in fresh blooms, it felt like the perfect backdrop to celebrate their story.
Seeing how much Peaches has grown, was simply amazing. My favorite moment came when Ashlyn asked Peaches to bow and this once‑wild mustang lowered her head to the dust, draping the flag, an image that felt equal parts Western grit and quiet reverence.
I love it when trainers decide to keep their Mustang that they got for a challenge. I love it even more when I get to photograph the pair again after a few years and can witness how much they have grown, in their bond and in their confidence.
