Melissa & Malibu

Equestrians

I have so much respect for Mustang trainers who participate in TIP challenges or Makeovers. Not just for the incredible work that they do and how they are saving these beautiful horses from being stuck in holding pens, but also for training a horse that you know will be sold. Yes, some trainers end up keeping the horses themselves but most of the time, they know they have to part with them as they continue their journeys in their new homes.

I don't know how they do it. I get way too attached, I couldn't do it!

Melissa participated in the Oklahoma City Extreme Mustang Makeover and trained the gorgeous mare she named Malibu. Melissa wanted to have a few professional portraits with her girl before she headed off to her new home the next day.

Malibu was not in the mood to take photos and being a real mare but that is one of the things I love about equine photography. They are animals and you just never know if or how they will cooperate with what you have in mind.

We made it work though and got some lovely portraits of the two of them in a nice little green area I had found earlier that day.

Thank you, Melissa, for trusting me to create these memories for you and congratulations for the amazing work you have done with lovely miss Malibu!

Here are a few of my favourites.
