Not just the showstoppers or blue-ribbon winners, but the trail partners, pasture buddies, retired old souls and the wild-hearted rescues learning to trust.

They may not all make it into magazines, but they shape our lives in quiet, profound ways. That’s why I believe, with all my heart, that every horse deserves to be photographed.

You don’t need a show barn or a perfect bridle to have your horse photographed.

Some of my favorite sessions have been with horses who:

  • Are semi-retired and living their best slow life
  • Just came out of holding and are learning what human kindness feels like
  • Are backyard companions, therapy partners or lesson horses
  • Have carried little cowboys and cowgirls through their childhood

Whether we’re doing timeless black background portraits or golden hour images out in the desert, I always aim to capture:

  • The way they nuzzle you, follow you, or stand quietly by your side
  • Those little gestures only you would notice, the ear flicks, the head tilts, the softness in their eyes
