I had been wanting to return to the Tonto National forest for quite a while to see the Salt River wild mustangs again.
Since I have one of my best friends visiting us from Germany, now was the perfect time to do so since seeing wild Mustangs was on her bucket list. We headed out to the Salt River and couldn't find them at first. They are wild, you never know if you will be able to spot them or not. A kind lady who works on the river, told us she had seen them just an hour earlier and told us where to look. We hiked out there and low and behold, there was a band out there, just relaxing and eating.
It's the most beautiful experience to see these wonderful horses in the wild. The Salt River Mustangs are protected and the management group does amazing things to continue to keep them safe.
